The SSSC’s role includes, but is not limited to, the creation of the vision for the organization and to ensure that excellent leadership is developed and supplied to each of its constituent non-profit and for-profit entities. It accomplishes this, in part, by appointing qualified candidates to the boards of the various organizations and by monitoring and assessing the performance of those boards. The SSSC works affirmatively through a variety of mechanisms to integrate the non-profits and for profits so they are working in harmony to synergistically further the mission. Third, the SSSC has an oversight role to ensure that the entire organization is complying with all applicable laws and is using best practices in governance and decision making. Finally the SSSC is charged with the responsibility to manage and grow the assets of the organization for the expansion of the Dharma in order to serve present and future generations.​
