Purpose of Board Service
Our nonprofit Boards:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for their organization.
- Uphold the mission, values, and legacy of the Siri Singh Sahib.
- Safeguard resources and ensure accountability to our sangat and stakeholders.
- Build unity and foster a culture of service, transparency, and trust.

Commitment and Expectations
- Term of Service: Most nonprofit Board terms are 2 years with potential for renewal.
- Time Commitment: The time commitment per month for meetings, committee work, and preparation vary. You will find the approximate time commitment in the Board member job description, that is posted as positions open up.
- Ethics and Accountability: Adherence to organizational Codes of Ethics, Conflict of Interest policies, and governance standards.
- Active Engagement: Prepared and present participation in meetings, committee work, and organizational events.
Support for Board Members
We support our Board members in fulfilling their role through:
- Orientation and Training – An introduction to the mission, governance structure, and current priorities of the organization as well as BoardSource Training: Certificate of Nonprofit Board Education.
- Ongoing Development – Siri Singh Sahib Corporation offers periodic professional development trainings open to Board members.
- Community and Connection – Opportunities to build relationships with fellow Board members and organizational leaders.
